FCPS Boasts Two Presidential Scholar Semifinalists

FCPS Boasts Two Presidential Scholar Semifinalists

FCPS has produced two of Kentucky’s nine semifinalists in the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, one of the nation’s most prestigious honors recognizing high school students’ accomplishments. Maya Davis and Grace Sun – both seniors at Paul Laurence Dunbar – represent excellence in education and the promise of greatness in young people.

Nearly a dozen students from Fayette County Public Schools were named candidates in January. Ultimately, as many as 161 winners will be announced in May.

Application for this program is by invitation only. For the most part, College Board SAT and ACT exam scores determine the selection of approximately 5,000 general program candidates. Most winners are chosen based on broad academic achievement. About 20 students are selected because of their academics and their talents in the visual arts, the performing arts, or creative writing. Another 20 are picked based on academics and accomplishments in career and technical education fields.
