Led by coach Nathan McPeek, the Frederick Douglass High School football team secured its sixth consecutive region championship with a 36-6 win over Madison Central. Now the Broncos (9-4) will face a familiar opponent in the Class 6A state semifinals. Fourth-ranked Douglass plays at No. 3 Trinity (11-2) in Louisville on Friday, Nov. 29. The winner will advance to the KHSAA state championship game Dec. 7 at Lexington’s Kroger Field.

In last year’s semifinals, Douglass lost 14-7 in overtime to the Shamrocks -- the eventual state champions.
