Carter G. Woodson Produces Winner of Farm Bureau Contest
Tyren Harris, a junior at Carter G. Woodson Academy representing Fayette County Farm Bureau, took first place in the state bureau’s 5th District Outstanding Youth Contest. In his speech, he shared a passion for educating people about agriculture and becoming an advocate for the industry. Tyren advances to the state competition during Kentucky Farm Bureau’s annual meeting Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 in Louisville.
The Outstanding Youth Contest is a competition for students 14 to 19 years old, with a male and a female division. Contestants deliver a two-minute speech about any topic related to agriculture or Farm Bureau. In addition, they have a seven-minute personal interview. The county winners then compete at the district level with a chance to move on to state.
