Career Expo Gives Freshmen a Glimpse of Future

Roughly 2,000 students from across Fayette County Public Schools gathered for the annual Freshman Career Expo, where four dozen businesses and community organizations provided hands-on activities and fielded questions about various jobs. 

Kristy Field, principal at host Tates Creek High School, said the expo was ideal for their Freshman Seminar class, in which students explore the career academies before determining a path for the next three years. 

“This is a great way for them to be exposed to so many things our community has to offer – all in one place,” Field said. “This also gives them an opportunity to see how (their education) applies in the real world.”
