A teacher at Bryan Station High School, Justin Royal, was among nine community members whom CivicLex honored at the annual Lexington Unsung Hero Awards. These recipients make a significant difference in our city – showing consistency, reliability, and a talent for serving others – often working tirelessly behind the scenes without seeking recognition.
Chosen as the 2025 education hero, Royal teaches Social Studies in the Leadership Academy at Bryan Station, where he has worked for over a decade. Previously, he served 10 years in alternative education. He has spent his career empowering young people to discover their passions and find purpose. His classroom is a space of encouragement and connection, fostering leadership and community-minded values. Royal’s dedication to his students is rooted in guiding them to “always walk toward that which is greater than you.”
