During the school board's July 6 planning session, Acting Superintendent Bill Bradford and district colleagues shared updates on the goals and work outlined in our district's Strategic Plan, including a year in review of 2025-26 and a look ahead to Year 5. The progress is guided by cross-departmental leaders from all areas, ensuring diversity of thought and unique perspectives.
"Our four promises (to students) are intricately connected with all five priorities of our Strategic Plan," Bradford noted, aligning it with our district's Portrait of a Graduate.
Board Chair Tyler Murphy asked if we've started conversations about what the next chapter looks like, for 2027-28 and beyond. Bradford explained that the current Strategic Plan offers a natural opportunity to expand upon the current priority areas and use real-time data and stakeholder input to adjust desired outcomes appropriately. That said, FCPS has changed since 2021 so we will need to reflect and concentrate on opportunities to ensure the district is working toward making the greatest impact on providing our students with a world-class education.
In action on the night's agenda, the board agreed for Murphy to negotiate an addendum to Bradford's contract because of his added duties, subject to board approval. Board members also signed off on the job description for a director of Finance, a new position in Financial Services which replaces two associate director positions.
