10 More Schools Earn Family Friendly Certification

10 More Schools Earn Family Friendly Certification

This spring, the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence awarded four dozen more Kentucky schools and early care centers with a Family Friendly Schools Certification, including 10 in Fayette County Public Schools:

  • Clays Mill Elementary
  • Deep Springs Elementary
  • Lansdowne Elementary
  • Millcreek Elementary
  • Picadome Elementary
  • Sandersville Elementary
  • Southern Elementary
  • Stonewall Elementary
  • Yates Elementary
  • Tates Creek High

In addition, Yates achieved gold-level status by demonstrating skills in engaging families as co-creators in the education process.

All these schools have worked to foster more effective partnerships with families and the broader community. As part of the certification process, a team consisting of families, teachers, and administrators used a self-assessment tool to evaluate their school’s family engagement performance.

Overall, Kentucky currently has 72 Family Friendly Certified schools, including Brenda Cowan Elementary and SCAPA at Bluegrass, which were recognized last fall. The first in FCPS to earn the Family Friendly designation was Lafayette High in 2022. Breckinridge Elementary has also made the list.
