Masks now optional; schools allow visitors again
Face masks are optional in all FCPS district facilities and on our school buses effective March 15, 2022. We also lifted all COVID-19 restrictions on school visitors and volunteers effective March 21, and district facility rentals have resumed. Note: Face masks are still required for anyone entering the nurse's office, health room, and clinics in our schools.
Throughout the pandemic, FCPS has looked to national, state, and local health experts and adjusted our response based on new data and updated science to safeguard our students, employees, and community. According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, the COVID-19 levels here have reached the point where we can ease some of our requirements. We will continue to use layered precautions such as enhanced cleaning, frequent handwashing, physical distancing when possible, and extensive air-quality improvements.

What to do: Students and employees should stay home if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 and report positive cases to our risk management team. Anyone who tests positive must stay home for five days. On day six, those who have been symptom-free for 24 hours without medication may return to work or school if they wear a mask for the next five days.
