OMC students earn recognition in NAACP contest
Jennifer Kisasu took first place in the 2020 Black History Month essay/poetry/art contest sponsored by a local unit of the NAACP, and classmate Brianna Clark was runner-up. They received prizes of $125 and $75, respectively, during the Kentucky Black Authors Expo at the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center in late February. Honorable mention went to Chelsea Kieh and Otreyvien Taylor. The contest topics included “Why Black History Month is important to me,” unrecognized black achievers, and civil rights heroes. Henry Clay High School is the home site for Jennifer and Brianna, while Chelsea is affiliated with Lafayette and Otreyvien with Frederick Douglass.
