COVID-19 In-Person Learning Matrix

  • Fayette County Public Schools uses a tool called the In-Person Learning Matrix to track the seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases as reported weekdays by the health department. The matrix also allows district leaders to monitor transition factors that provide a fuller picture of conditions related to the pandemic, including orders from the governor, isolations, quarantines, and absences among students and staff, community spread, institutional spread, community trends, vaccine uptake, and FCPS operational and support considerations.

In alignment with guidance from the Kentucky Department for Public Health, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Kentucky's governor that schools can safely provide in-person learning by adopting and enforcing layered prevention strategies, FCPS is committed to offering in-person learning for all students at all schools. The district has issued detailed guidance in its COVID-19 Health & Safety Procedures.
Remote learning would only be considered if advised by medical professionals, required under orders from the governor, mandated by the Kentucky Department of Education, or compelled by extraordinary circumstancesa.
