Piano Requirements, Grades 8-12

Performance: 

Each student should prepare two pieces of contrasting styles (fast/slow or from different time periods). Students should choose music that reflects their interpretive and technical abilities. Memorization of the music is optional but highly encouraged and may improve overall audition score.

PDF Music: Along with the video performances, students are asked to submit PDF scans of the sheet music for each piece for the adjudicators’ reference.

On-Demand Sight-Reading: 

Sight-reading will also be a part of the on-demand audition. (Released S-R samples) Key signatures may include up to two sharps or flats, both major and minor. (C Major, G Maj, D Maj, F Maj, B-flat Maj, a minor, e min, b min, d min, g min). (No scales or arpeggios are required.)
