Fayette County Public Schools desires to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, staff, and visitors. It is the expectation of Fayette County Public Schools that all district schools and workplaces are safe and free from harassment and discrimination of all forms, including on the basis of race, color, and national origin. Racial harassment of any sort is strictly prohibited. Students, staff, and visitors are expected to treat all individuals with respect during school, after school, and during school-sponsored activities. Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to report all instances of harassment or discrimination to the principal of their school. Formal complaints may be made filed with the district compliance officer. Once a report of harassment/discrimination has been made, a prompt investigation will commence.
No one shall retaliate against an employee, student, or third party, including visitors, because he or she submits a grievance, assists, or participates in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing regarding the charge of a harassment/discrimination of an individual, or because he or she has opposed language or conduct that violates this policy. Upon resolution of allegations, the superintendent shall take steps to protect employees, students, and third parties who have experienced racial harassment/discrimination against retaliation. Students and staff who are found to have harassed, discriminated, or retaliated against an individual due to their race may be subjected to discipline, including but not limited to a referral for suspension, expulsion, or termination, when appropriate. Fayette County Public Schools is working with district staff, students, and parents to prevent racial harassment.
