Magnet & School Program Application Process

Families must act during the application window for their child to enroll in a magnet or school program for the following academic year. The 2025-26 application window is March 1-17.

Reminder: The acceptance process is NOT first-come, first-served. All applications received during the window will receive consideration.

Note: The Re-Engagement Center and the Virtual Learning Center at Success Academy accept applications year-round. Also, our Career & Technical Education (CTE) centers use a different application system and timeline. Please refer to the CTE website or call Eastside, Southside, or Locust Trace for specifics. 

FCPS reserves the right to make changes to application and entrance requirements for all programs offered throughout the district.

  • September, October, and November: Open Houses; see the district's calendar

  • Nov. 1-29: Cognitive and achievement testing window

  • Nov. 1 - Dec. 13: Visual and performing arts auditions window

  • March 1: Innovation Showcase at Tates Creek High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • March 1-17: Application window

  • March 31 (high) & April 1 (elementary and middle) -- notifications to families (check your email and spam folder)
