CDC Protocols
In light of the CDC’s latest protocols, the Kentucky Department of Public Health issued the following recommendations:
- Stay up to date with vaccinations to protect against serious illness, hospitalization, and death. This includes flu, COVID-19, whooping cough (pertussis) and RSV if eligible.
- Get plenty of sleep, exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, and reduce your stress.
- Practice good hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes, washing or sanitizing hands often, and cleaning frequently touched surfaces.
- Stay home and away from others until at least 24 hours after symptoms are getting better overall and fever has ended (without using fever-reducing medication).
- When sick with any respiratory virus, seek testing or treatment if you have risk factors for severe illness, and take precautions for five additional days -- enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask when around others, and keeping a distance from others. For suspected COVID-19, consider taking an antigen test. A positive test means it is more likely you can still spread the virus.
