Academic Contests

Our elementary students have two competitive avenues to exercise their brains outside the classroom: the longstanding Academic Challenge and the Quiz Bowl, which was piloted in spring 2024. Please reach out to your school if your child is interested in participating.

Quiz Bowl is for older students (grades 4-5).

• Feb. 22: Quiz Bowl at host Veterans Park Elementary

Academic Challenge (grades 2-5 in two age divisions) is an Urban League of Lexington initiative in partnership with FCPS and Kentucky colleges awarding scholarships to youngsters. 

• March 8: Regional contests at host elementary schools
• March 26: Superintendent's Cup at the John D. Price Administration Building, 450 Park Place
