Fayette County Public Schools serves more than 41,000 students, and every decision we make - from the board room to the classroom - is based on doing what's best for all our students. Our dedicated employees share a common goal of providing a world-class education for each and every child, and it shows.
As the second-largest employer in Lexington, FCPS has an operating budget of over $800 million. Because we are committed to equity and inclusion, the school board has determined that not less than 13 percent of the total value of construction contracts, goods and services, and professional services be contracted to minority, women, and veteran business enterprises (MBE/WBE/VBE). These are businesses that are at least 51 percent owned, operated, and managed by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the following groups:
- African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, or Native American (MBE)
- Woman or Group of Women (WBE)
- U.S. Military Veteran (VBE)
