Health Services

Fayette County Public Schools is responsible for various student and staff health requirements including screenings, up-to-date immunizations, physicals, dental and eye exams, and staff training for certain health conditions. We schedule necessary nursing services for students, help with the paperwork for students with medical needs, and work with local universities, agencies, and organizations to provide health education and other services to our schools. We also work with the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department to meet the Kentucky Department of Education's requirements in the Health Services Reference Guide, and we partner with HealthFirst Bluegrass in the school-based clinics.

We keep a database of students with specific health conditions, so parents/caregivers should fill out a student health information consent form every year for the school to keep on file. These students might also have an individual healthcare plan on file at school, including an emergency plan of action. Some students need a licensed nurse to provide a health service during the school day, and some students require a one-on-one nurse because of their circumstances. FCPS works with various nursing agencies to provide these specialized services.
