The Audrey Grevious Center (formerly Lexington Day Treatment) is run by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government in collaboration with FCPS and the state's Department of Juvenile Justice. About four dozen students in grades 6-12 are on site, taking classes under FCPS teachers in a smaller environment and receiving individualized treatment and counseling from Division of Youth Services professionals. All students are working to obtain their high school diploma and may do so here or upon return to the regular high school setting.
To be eligible for enrollment, youths must be committed to the DJJ, the Department of Community-Based Services, or be court-ordered to attend and participate at the Audrey Grevious Center. We also allow a small percentage of students to enter voluntarily. Many times during the year there is a waiting list, and students are interviewed for enrollment based on their application submission date. Students here receive breakfast and lunch at no charge.
How to help
This program strives to reward students for good grades, attendance, and exemplary behavior. Incentives and rewards are always needed to encourage and motivate our youth. Gift cards and gift certificates for goods or services are especially valued.
Did you know?
Lexington Day Treatment was renamed on June 11, 2018, for Audrey Grevious, a central leader in the local civil rights movement who died in January 2017.
