2024

Summer Ignite provides rigorous and engaging learning opportunities, including lessons on physical and social-emotional health. Our enrichment program aims to help students make progress toward key academic standards in preparation for the coming school year.

Session 1: Grades K-8

The organizers decide who participates based on the family interest survey (emailed in mid-March) and discussion with school leaders. Priority goes to students who need extra classroom time to get ready for the 2024-25 school year. This might include children who have not mastered reading or math for their grade level.

Focus areas include kindergarten readiness for preschoolers and extra support in reading and math for grades K-8. The program also offers social-emotional learning lessons as well as fine arts and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities.

In a hub model, seven campuses host students from across the district. Placement is based on the family's home address.

STEM Hubs: Dixie Magnet and Sandersville elementaries and Bryan Station Middle

Arts Hubs: Deep Springs, James Lane Allen, and Julius Marks elementaries and Southern Middle

Session 1: High School

Session 2: Transition Grades

Transition Week is for incoming kindergarteners, sixth graders, and ninth graders throughout Fayette County Public Schools. Each campus hosts their own students; breakfast and lunch are provided. This session focuses on highly engaging activities to foster inclusion and belonging, and it includes the Brigance kindergarten screening.

Transition Week is a great way for students to get prepared and excited as they enter a new phase of school and continue their academic journey!
