Located inside 10 FCPS facilities are school-based clinics managed by HealthFirst Bluegrass Inc. and partially funded by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration. These clinics are like a regular doctor's office and can handle some services without parents/guardians having to leave work, such as ADHD services, acute/sick visits, mental health counseling, and dental treatment.
To help students meet Kentucky's school health requirements, these clinics accept appointments for the following services:
Any student within the FCPS system can be seen in a school-based clinic as long as a completed and signed consent packet is on file.
The clinics are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays when school is in session. If our school buildings are closed (e.g. NTI day or weather cancellation), then the clinics are also closed. Telehealth visits are sometimes an option.
Note: Students who use school-based clinics for primary care are welcome anytime at the HealthFirst clinics at 576 E. Third St. #170 or 496 Southland Drive.
Some students might qualify for the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP), based on family income.
