Interpreting & Translation Services

Oral interpretation -- the act of translating spoken words from one language to another in real-time, essentially allowing someone to communicate directly with another person who speaks a different language by having an interpreter convey their speech live

Modes of interpretation:

Simultaneous: The interpreter translates the speech in real-time as the speaker is talking, often using a headset.

Consecutive: The speaker pauses after a sentence or short phrase, allowing the interpreter to translate before continuing.

Written translation -- the process of converting a written text from one language to another

We translate district and school documents including posters, brochures, flyers, and forms.

Examples:

• Event invitations
• Supply lists
• Bus route information

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Educational Opportunities Act of 1974 require schools and districts to ensure English Language Learning (ELL) students have opportunities to participate equally in educational programs.

Federal law requires the school district to provide interpreters and written documentation in the families’ home language.
