Fayette County Public Schools coordinates several programs and districtwide events to salute student and staff accomplishments.
School board recognitions
At each month's school board action meeting, FCPS congratulates students and employees who have received awards or placed highly in state or national competitions. The board meetings generally start at 6 p.m. on the fourth Monday in Norsworthy Auditorium in the district's administration building on Main Street. Honorees are announced near the beginning of the meeting, receive medals or other keepsakes, and shake hands with the superintendent and school board members. In addition, their photos are added to a school board webpage under "student/staff recognitions."
Graduating seniors are encouraged to nominate a favorite teacher, counselor, coach, or mentor who has made a significant difference in their lives. Student-teacher pairs, selected on the strength of the essay submissions, are recognized at a program honoring the impact that educators can have on the students they serve.

The entries are featured at a spring reception and gallery showing downtown, and a panel of community judges selects the 14 pieces to appear in the following school year's calendar. In addition, all the entries are displayed throughout central office during the coming year.
- 5 p.m. May 5 at The Lyric -- open to the public
FCPS employees who are retiring are treated to a springtime dinner and celebration. Others may purchase tickets to attend; call (859) 381-4794.
