State Benefits

Fayette County Public Schools provides benefits for regular, full-time employees and their families. State benefits are governed through the Department for Employee Insurance, which includes an Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield plan (multiple plan choices, with a generous employer-paid portion) or an incentive for waiving medical coverage (HRA).

Benefit-eligible employees also receive $20,000 of free life insurance with buy-up options and dependent life plan options. Dental and vision plans through Anthem are available, along with healthcare and adult/dependent pre-tax flexible spending accounts.

Open enrollment takes place each fall for the following calendar year.

Enrollment is mandatory if you want to change, add, or drop state health insurance and dental and/or vision coverage, or if you want a general purpose waiver, a flexible spending account, or a dependent flexible spending account.

Note: The state offers Anthem dental and vision coverage, and Houchens (a voluntary benefits vendor) offers dental plans and vision plans through Delta. Don’t sign up for both.

You enroll online through the Kentucky Human Resource Information System (KHRIS), which sends instructions in the mail.
