Mr. Ben Herald
Hello and welcome to Social Studies at Locust Trace!! My name is Ben Herald and I am delighted to be embarking on this journey with you and your family this year. This is my 11th year in education and 1st at Locust Trace. Prior to joining the outstanding faculty here, I was a proud member of the staff at Tates Creek High School. I am Lexington native having graduated from Tates Creek High School here in town. I have a bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s in Secondary Education from the University of Kentucky. In addition to this I also have a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of the Cumberlands.
I have a very simple educational philosophy and creed that I try to apply in all facets of life. “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” I feel truly blessed to be in the position to impact the lives of so many young people in the community that I live. My mission each day is effect the lives of those I interact with in a positive way, even if that interaction may be brief. I want my students to know that I truly care about them and want them to reach their goals and aspirations whatever they may be.
In addition to teaching, I have worn many hats in my career. At one time, I was a head high school wrestling coach, head high school bowling coach, assistant football coach and head middle school football and wrestling coach. I have also sponsored many clubs over the years such as the Anime Club. I am blessed to currently be coaching my own kids in several youth sports around Lexington.
I have been married for 11 years to my wonderful wife Leslie. We have been blessed with five wonderful children, three sons (Grant, Grahame and Grayson) and two daughters (Reese and Ryan soon to be 1 year old twins). In my free time, I love to coach youth sports (especially baseball), read and watch Netflix.
