    CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to the Girls’ tennis team for their 5-0 victory over Frederick Douglass yesterday. They only lost one game the entire match! You're invited to come support these young ladies at home on Tuesday, April 23, @ 5:30 PM against Frankfort. This will be our Senior’s last home match!


    BATTLE OF THE BANDS: All are invited to attend the annual Beta Club Battle of the Bands event tonight (4/19) from 7-10 PM in the cafeteria. Admission is $10 at the door. We will be giving away door prizes and free food.


    SPRING BLOOD DRIVE: The spring blood drive is next Wednesday, April 24. Signups will be on Monday and Tuesday during all lunches. Give blood and save a life!


    ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB RECYCLE DRIVE: Environmental Club is recycling mascara wands for the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge. This organization uses the wands to clean animals to release them back into nature. Please bring any clean, used mascara wands to Mrs. Polston, Mrs. Remley, Mr. Matson, or Mr. Bernhard by next  Friday, April 26th!


    PROM T-SHIRTS: Attention students who attended prom! If you did not pick up your free prom t-shirt yet, bring your roll ticket to Mrs. McClanahan in Room 102 before or after school.


    SOPHOMORE FRIDAY FIESTA TICKETS: Attention sophomores! Join us on Friday, May 3rd from 5:30 – 8:30 PM for the first ever Sophomore Class Friday Fiesta! Enjoy an evening of outdoor games, Moe’s Kona Ice, and a movie. Tickets are $15 and are on sale now! Purchase yours from Ms. Bugg or Mrs. McClanahan in Rooms 101 and 102 or from any Sophomore Class E-board member.


    WRESTLING OPEN MAT: Anyone interested in wrestling, the Lafayette 5 Star open mat began Tuesday, 4/16 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday night from 5:30 – 7 PM. All that is needed to participate is a current physical and USA card. Come and learn the sport of wrestling and be a part of a winning tradition.


    CONSERVATION DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP: The Fayette County Conservation District has announced their 2019 Spring Scholarship worth $1,000. This scholarship is open to juniors and seniors who plan to major in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or Environmental Science. Applications are available in the counseling office.


    HEAD START SCHOLARSHIP: We have received applications for the Avery M. Williamson Head Start Scholarship, which is worth up to $10,000. The applicant must be a Head Start Alumnus from an accredited Head Start program. Other criteria apply as well. Applications are available in the counseling office and the deadline to apply is April 30, 2019.


    CAP AND GOWN DELIVERY: Seniors who have paid in full and haven’t picked up their cap & gown yet can pick them up from Ms. Chastain in the YSC, Room 116. Off-campus/non-traditional students, please call ahead and Ms. Chastain will have your cap & gown waiting in the office for you to pick up. Students who still have a balance on their account: Jostens still has your ordered items. Next Jostens visit TBD.



    DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP: Distinguished Young Women is the oldest and largest scholarship program in the U.S. This scholarship is for young women in the class of 2020 (Juniors). Come to the counseling office or visit www.DistinguishedYW.org for more information. The Fayette County Distinguished Young Women program sign up deadline is May 10, 2019.


    AVIATION CAMP: Interested in Aviation Camp? The Aviation Museum of KY at Bluegrass Airport has three camp sessions for students ages 10 to 17. More information at: www.aviationky.org/camps and the counseling office.


    FIRE CAMP FOR YOUNG WOMEN: The Lexington Fire Department will be hosting a Brenda Cowan Fire Camp for high school girls between the ages of 16 to 19. The camp provides a unique hands-on introductory experience into the fire service. For more information and application, please come to the counseling office.


    COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP: The George C. Wright, Lafayette Class of 1968 scholarship is now available in the Counseling office. This is a $2,500 scholarship for seniors who are planning to go to college. Deadline is May 1, 2019.


    UK SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM: The UK Summer Youth Program allows high school students to come to the University of Kentucky and work for 6 weeks in an assigned department on campus. The program includes free professional development training sessions. The goal of this program is to give disadvantaged students information and familiarity with UK’s campus as well as real, professional work experience for their resumes.     BCTC ACADEMIC BOOT CAMP: BCTC is hosting an Academic Boot Camp 2019 June 24 – 27 at the Newtown Campus. This is a FREE boot camp to sharpen your math, reading and English skills; learn important college success skills such as Time Management, Notetaking, Stress Management, Critical Thinking and Overcoming Test Anxiety.
