    LAFAYETTE STUDENTS ON THE BALL REPORT: The following Lafayette students are 'Scholar Athletes of Week' on the Ball Report show this weekend: Lindi Debilzan, Macey Goff, Lauren Walton and Anaya Brown. These Scholar Athletes will be interviewed with Coach Ali Denton Sunday at Noon on CWKYT!


    GOOD LUCK/TRACK TEAM: Good luck to Lamiah Campbell competing this Saturday at the UK High School Track Invitational! Outdoor track practices started February 11th. It’s not too late to come out for the track team. See Coach Lawson or Mr Kinney if you are interested or visit us online via the Track & Field Link on Lafayette’s school website. Deadline to join the team is February 25th!


    STEP TEAM TRYOUTS: So you think you can Step? The Lafayette’s Step Team, Riot, is back by popular demand and will have tryouts every day from February 13th through next Friday, February 22nd from 3:30-5 PM in the Bus Foyer. As you know, they put on a show-stopping performance at 2019’s DanceBlue and want you on their team! Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to attend!


    PROM GUEST CONTRACTS: Attention Juniors and Seniors! Guest Contracts for prom are now available outside room 101, 102, and in the front office. Students must fill out the contract if they plan on bringing a guest that does not attend Lafayette. You cannot purchase a prom ticket until your guest is approved.  Questions?  See Ms. Bugg in room 101 or Mrs. McClanahan in room 102. Contracts are due by Friday, March 22nd. Tickets go on sale Monday, March 18th for $30 each.


    BLACK STUDENT UNION: The Black Student Union will have their first meeting of the semester next Wednesday, February 20th at 3:30 in Room 241. The Black Student Union is a new club that will promote academic and civic excellence at Lafayette and in our community. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!


    FREE ACT PREP SESSIONS AT LHS: Attention Sophomores and Juniors! The Junior Class Executive Board is hosting FREE ACT prep sessions in math, science, English, and reading in the month of February! See Mrs. McClanahan or Ms. Bugg if you have any questions. Sessions begin next Thursday, February 21st!


    ART HONOR SOCIETY FUNDRAISER: Art Honor Society will be selling brownies after school Tuesday through Friday this week in room 243!


    SEAL OF BILITERACY: The Seal of Biliteracy recognizes students who can speak, listen, read and write at a high level in two or more languages: English and any other world language.  If you would like more information about the Seal of Biliteracy, please see your world language teacher or Ms. Adams in the counseling office. The application deadline is Friday, February 15th. The exams will be given on Friday, March 1st after school.


    BAPTIST HEALTH LEXINGTON SUMMER VOLUNTEEN PROGRAM: The summer teen volunteer program at Baptist Health is now open for applications online at www.bhlexvolunteers.com


    EBCE APPLICATIONS: EBCE applications are due by Friday February 15th. Applications can be turned in to Mr. Stone in room 606 or your Guidance Counselor.


    BLACK PPROFESSIONALS CAREER SHOWCASE: Students are invited to meet African-American professionals in our community to explore future careers and learn how to pursue fields from law to peronal training to engineering and more at the Northside Library on Thursday, February 21st at 6 PM.


    ALIVE @ 25: The next Alive at 25 class held at Lafayette will be held on Monday, February 25th from 4:30 - 8:30 PM in Room 106. To register for the class, go to www.kentuckysafedriver.com  This is the FREE 4-hour required defensive driving program for your graduated license.


    FREE ACT WORKSHOP – Sophomores and Juniors: The Lafayette Library will be hosting a free ACT workshop by Ultimate Test Prep on Monday, February 25th  from 3:30-5:30 PM. Practice the crucial strategies that will help you score higher on the ACT! Sign up at: https://www.fcps.net/Page/12553


    SUMMER JOB TRAINING PROGRAM: Applications for the Summer Youth Job Training Program are available in the Counseling Office. The deadline is Thursday, February 28th at 4 PM.


    LEGIT LEADER APPLICATIONS: The YSC is looking for LEGIT leaders! LEGIT is a transition program for current 8th grade students who will visit LHS this spring. LEGIT Leaders need to be dependable, comfortable speaking in groups, and able to follow directions. If you would like to give tours, class presentations, and be a positive ambassador for LHS, stop by the YSC for a LEGIT application. All LEGIT leaders have to submit an application even if you have participated before. Applications are due by Friday, March 1st.


    FAFSA WORKSHOPS AT LEXINGTON PUBLIC LIBRARIES: High school seniors and their parents, plus college-bound adults are invited to meet with a Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority representative to discuss everything you need to know about the FAFSA:

    AP EXAM REGISTRATION: AP Exam registration for students currently taking AP courses begins February 1st, 2019 at midnight and ends February 28th, 2019 at 11:59 PM.  To register, students must click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/181430.  To complete registration & payment, all required questions must be answered.

    PBIS TEAM DRAWING CONTEST: The PBIS team is looking for student drawings to represent Lafayette’s new expectations of “Make Academics Your Top Priority,” “Respect Yourself and Others,” and “Safety First.” The drawings will be hung throughout the school hallways and in classrooms beginning next year. Students may send digital drawings to Mrs. Gorski via email or drop off hard copies to her office. This will be a contest and students whose art work is chosen will win an iTunes or Amazon gift card (whichever they prefer). All drawings should be submitted by April 8th!
