Lisa Nichols

Lisa Nichols is a transplanted Midwesterner and a bit a of an oddball. She loves to travel but hates to fly, believes breakfast cereal is a perfectly acceptable dinner food, and is obsessed with dystopian fiction. For more than 20 years, Lisa has taught students at every level from pre-school to university. She holds a BA in the Teaching of English, an MA in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (MATESL), and an MS in Library and Information Science, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

At TCMS, Lisa teaches English as a Second Language to speakers of other languages. She knows that her students must master reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English in a very short amount of time. To that end, she focuses on developing the literacy skills (i.e., reading, writing, and academic vocabulary) her students will need to reach their personal, educational, and career goals.

Lisa lives with her husband and daughter and two overfed guinea pigs. When she is not organizing cabinets and closets, she is an avid reader and Trivial Pursuit player who enjoys sewing and tooling around her neighborhood on a bicycle.
