Ms. Schentrup
First, photo credit goes to one of my young photographers, Malike L., who took the picture of my on his first day using the cameras.
I am one of the Visual and Media Art teachers at Bryan Station High School. Currently, I am teaching Digital Imaging, Two Dimensional Media Design, Adv. Photography 2, and Advanced Placement Studio Art. I am also a co-director for StationArts and a member of the Site Based Decision Making Council. I am a member of the National Art Education Association and the Kentucky Art Education Association.
After graduating from Lexington Catholic (2000), I attended Murray State University where I studied Visual Art Education. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Visual Art with an emphasis in metalsmithing and jewelry design and a teaching certificate (2004). I went on to teach visual art at Hopkinsville High School in Christian County, KY from 2005—2009 before returning home to Lexington to teach at Bryan Station High School. While teaching, I earned her Masters of Arts in Education in the area of Art Education from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY (2011).
The Academies of Bryan Station is my home. I have been a member of the faculty here since the fall of 2009. The diversity, creativity, and ingenuity of the students, faculty and staff have been my source for strength. The changes at BSHS are exciting and I cannot wait to see just how far our students and community will go with the enthusiasm of a new horizon.
