  • What is Air Force JROTC?

    The Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Program is one of the top programs for fostering leadership qualities, good character, and motivating cadets to become better citizens.

    KY-041's AFJROTC program focuses on making sure the program remains a cadet-ran organization that enforces the importance of leadership and team building, problem-solving, and self-improvement. Cadets in our program are given numerous opportunities to participate in various events, special teams, and even be the ones to make important decisions by being a member of our cadet staff list.

    *Note: Although the program teaches these qualities through military values, anyone who is a part of a JROTC program is by no means required to enter the military after they've completed the program.

Col. Greg Coker

Col. Gregory W. Coker, who was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Air Force in 1979, is the senior Aerospace Science instructor (ROTC Commander) at Bryan Station High School. Prior to his retirement in 2007 from active duty, Coker was professor of Aerospace Studies at the University of Alabama; base commander of Pope AFB, North Carolina; base commander of Dover AFB, Delaware; base civil engineer at Maxwell AFB, Alabama; chief engineer for the ground-launched cruise missile in Europe; chief engineer for the F-16 bed-down in Egypt; commander of the Civic Action Team in Micronesia; and research development engineer in the Air Force's Aeronautical Systems Division at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Coker has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Master of Engineering from the University of Florida, Master of Military Operational Art from Air Command and Staff College, and a Master of Military Strategic Studies from Air War College in Alabama.

His major awards and decorations include two Legions of Merit, six Meritorious Service Medals, the Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, six Outstanding Unit Awards, Engineer of the year, and runner–up for Officer of the Year for the entire U.S. Air Force. He is also a Kentucky Colonel.
