Rosa Parks Elementary Library
In our Media Center, we do everything we can to instill a love of reading in our students. Children are encouraged to visit the library as much and as often as they can. Open checkout in the morning is from 7:30 to 7:55 a.m. Classes also visit the library as part of their specials rotation once every six days for 55 minutes. During this session, students receive a lesson in library or research skills and are able to check out books. Kindergarteners may take home one book, and grades 1-5 can check out two books at a time.
Meet Mrs. Hollinger
My name is Katy Hollinger, and this is my sixth year as the librarian at RPE. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 2006 and began my teaching career at Rosa Parks shortly after graduating. I taught fourth grade for eight years before moving to the library in 2014. In 2011, I earned my Masters of Library Science degree from UK. I am originally from Owensboro, where my mom and dad still live. My husband, Jeff, and I married in 2010. He teaches STEM lab here at RPE. We have a 4-year-old daughter, Shelby, and our four-legged kid, Miller.
