Rebekah is originally from Vanceburg, KY. As a child, she took piano lessons and developed a love for reading and writing. As a teenager, she attended Governor’s School for the Arts in Creative Writing and also The Governor’s Scholars Program. In 1993, after graduation from high school, she attended The University of Louisville and received an undergraduate degree in English, magna cum laude, in 1998.
In 1999, Rebekah moved to Columbus, Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a master’s in English education in 2001. The first five years of her teaching career were in Columbus, at the high school level. In 2007, after moving to Lexington, she began her teaching career in Fayette County at Lexington Traditional Magnet School. In 2011, she became a full time SCAPA teacher/ literacy coach.
Rebekah currently lives with her partner Dave, their daughter Ruby, their dogs Sally and Burt, and their cats Ivy and Moon.
