Ms. Anna Wilson
Anna Wilson teaches creative movement, wellness, and musical theatre, modern, jazz, and contemporary dance at SCAPA.
Anna holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Sociology from the University of Kentucky. She has set choreography on Blackbird Dance Theatre, Dancers' Studio, Woodford Theatre, SCAPA, and the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University dance programs, and two of her works were adjudicated at the regional American College Dance Association Conference in 2019.
She teaches dance at Dancers' Studio, is an adjunct faculty member of the dance program at the University of Kentucky, and has a private cello studio at Hurst Music.
Anna has a long history with SCAPA and was a 9-year contemporary dance major. Anna began dancing at a young age and over the years has trained at Blackbird Dance Theatre, Dancers' Studio, Lexington Tap & Jazz Company, and Gotta Dance Studio. Anna also studied cello performance privately with Rebecca Kiekenapp, participated as a leader in the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, All-State Orchestra, and attended the Governor's School for the Arts for instrumental music. She received the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra Presidential Service Award and the SCAPA Don Trivette Award for her leadership and interdisciplinary artistic abilities.
Anna believes in being a life-long learner and continues to study dance sciences and teaching methods and audition for local and regional dance and musical theatre productions. She also plays cello in a folk-dance band called Dreamdance and plays and sings in her church praise band at St. Martha's Episcopal. Anna loves to travel and learn about different cultures, grow and care for the vegetables and flowers in her garden, and snuggle with her dogs Poppy and Raider.
