  • ACT March 10th

On Tuesday, March 10th, each grade level will be participating in testing-related activities. All 9th graders will be taking a practice ACT. 10th and 11th graders will be taking the ACT free of charge as part of our state and district required testing. Please do not make any appointments for your 10th or 11th grade students that morning. 12th graders will be offered the opportunity to job shadow off campus for the entire day.

Students who are testing are not allowed to use or have access to cell phones or any other wifi or bluetooth enabled devices (including fitness trackers and smart watches) from the time they enter the testing session until they are dismissed from the test at approximately 12:40. Per ACT policy, if a student’s cell phone or electronic device is accessed or makes any kind of noise during testing, the student’s device will be confiscated, the student will be dismissed from the test, and their test will not be scored. Students will also receive school consequences, as this is a violation of the PLD Cell Phone Policy.

Classes will continue on a normal schedule for 9th, 10th and 11th graders once testing has completed. Early dismissals will be unexcused unless the reason meets the criteria listed on our website. Upon the conclusion of testing, students will be dismissed to their B3 classes. Students who are checking out must wait in their B3 classes until a red attendance note has been delivered to their classroom before leaving the building. Should you wish to check your child out once testing has concluded, please send an email to and at least one day in advance.

  • Senior Shadowing

As part of our focus on College and Career Readiness, seniors will have an opportunity to participate in a Senior Shadowing Project. This will take place:

    Time Available for Shadowing

    March 10th

On this day, seniors may elect to shadow an adult at his/her job site during the hours designated in the chart above. It is fine if a student would like to go to his/her parents’ workplace to observe.

This Shadowing Project will provide an opportunity for seniors to see first-hand what an adult does who works in a career that may be of interest to them.

In order for a senior to participate in the Shadowing Project, a parent or guardian and the student must complete and sign the permission form and return it to the attendance office no later than Tuesday, March 3rd.

Forms will be distributed during the 2/12/20 CCR block and extras will be available in the front office.

  • Calendar Update

The instructional calendar for the 2019-2020 school year has been amended with the makeup days for the two instructional days missed due to illness. May 28th will be the last day for students and May 29th will be the last day for teachers. Should we miss another day prior to March 1st, then March 20th could then be used as a makeup day.
