If you are interested in working in the library during the school day, schedule changes are made by our counselors. You will need to contact your counselor who will check to see if you are eligible to work in the library based on your schedule, then get permission from a parent or guardian. Library helpers drop a 9 week exploratoy class and can only do this once a year.
If you have books checked out from our library, please keep them in a safe place for now. When school opens in the fall, books can be returned. If you are changing schools, give your book to your new librarian and it will get returned to Southern.

The Lexington Public Library is still closed, but you can get access to their online book collection and other resources using your Student Success Card. You will need to know your student number (just like you use for Infinite Campus) and the last four digits of the phone number listed in IC.

Southern Middle School Library
Students may come to the library before school to check out books, check grades in Infinite Campus, study, or finish homework. Students may also come to the library anytime during the day with permission from a teacher.
Students may check out two books at a time for two weeks unless they have a lost book. They are able to renew their books if not finished in that time period.
No fines are charged for overdue books. Emails are sent out on Fridays to remind students and families about late books.
