    Parent Involvement

The Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) system recognizes that parent/family involvement is essential as we partner to educate our District's students and to prepare them for life-long learning. Schools, familes, and community must all be actively involved in developing strong programs and policies that support the academic success of every student in the FCPS system. For the parents of incoming Kindergartners:

The season finale of KET's Education Matters will focus on early childhood learning and kindergarten readiness. Host Bill Goodman and guests explore the Brigance Kindergarten Screen and take a look at how preshools, parents, and informal learning experiences can help young children arrive at kindergarten ready to succeed and thrive. "Kindergarten Readiness," will stream on the KET website-

FCPS has created a website devoted to the new standards, assessment and accountability system and how those align with national and global college/career readiness expectations. It is important that we stop emphasizing test scores and start emphasizing the reason behind the assessments, which is to ensure that our students are recieving a top-notch education that prepares them to be globally competitive in the career path of their choosing. Check it out at .

    Student Information Sheet

Every student must have a completed information sheet on file in the school office. It is very important that we are able to contact you if your child becomes injured or ill. The information sheet also will provide the school staff with the names of authorized individuals who may pick up your children the event of an emergncy. Please notify the office if phone numbers or address change throughout the year.

All visitors MUST REGISTER in the office. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please enter through the front door only and sign in each time you enter the building.

    Attendance Policy

Attendance in school is essential for good performance and high achievement. A written excuse, dated and signed by the parent is required for all absences. Excused absences include illness, death of an immediate family member, religious holidays for which prior approval is given, medical and dental appointments and special cases approved by the Principal. Children are tardy if they arrive after 7:45 A.M. and must obtain a tardy slip from the office upon arrival to school.

    Picking Up Your Child

If you are picking up your child at dismissal time please wait outside of the building. We must have a written note if there is a change in your child's transportation. No change in transportation will be permitted unless we have a written note from the parent. A telephone call will NOT be accepted. During the school day, you must come to the office to sign your child out. Children are only released from class when called from the office and shall be counted tardy without a valid school excuse. Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct for further clarification regarding student attendance.
