• Coach Phillip Hawkins

    Jan. 29, 2020 - Bryan Station High School is pleased to announce Phillip Hawkins as the new head football coach of the Defenders.

    Coach Hawkins comes to Bryan Station with over ten years of coaching experience at the high school level. Hawkins has spent the last six years as the head coach at Apollo High School and Doss High School where he led Doss to their first district championship in 20 years.

    Interim Executive Principal Mr. King said, “what impressed the interview committee most about Coach Hawkins is his commitment to engaging parents, alumni, and community members to build up the whole program. He is focused on developing the student athlete and connecting them with opportunities post high school as we strive as a school to graduate all students career and college ready.”

    Hawkins has coached in multiple All-American games including the 2017 Adidas All American game, 2014 & 2016 US Army All-American games and was the head coach in the 2010, 2011 & 2013 US Army Youth All-American Game. In 2012, he was inducted into the Middle School Football Hall of Fame.

    He is a native of Frankfort and graduated from Franklin County High School in ‘87. Hawkins played tight end under Coach Don James while at the University of Washington. He received his Bachelors in Health and Physical Education from Kentucky State University.

    Coach Hawkins will meet with his new players today and will take part in an official press conference Friday at 6:30 at Bryan Station High School. Following the press conference there will be a meet and greet for players, parents and community members. All are invited to attend.
