William Wells Brown Elementary, which replaced Johnson Elementary and Russell Elementary, is a joint project between Fayette County Public Schools and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. In addition to being a top-notch school, our $15 million facility includes a community center complete with a full-size gymnasium, a multipurpose room, and a kitchen classroom for adult education programs. We also house a Healthy Kids Clinic, which provides many services for students during the school day.

Our Mission

  • Our mission at William Wells Brown Elementary School is to educate all students to academic proficiency while developing their ability to think critically and persevere.

Our Vision

  • Our vision is to foster a positive environment where students, families, school staff, and community members work together to inspire our students to be lifelong learners.
