• The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). Title I, Part A, Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged, “is intended to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state academic standards and assignments.”

In Fayette County Public Schools, the Title I program works to help schools meet Kentucky’s accountability system goals. We coordinate resources to improve education for all students, and support school reform efforts so all students can graduate college- and career-ready.

Title I school mini-budgets help fund the schools’ strategies and activities. Title I district money provides technical assistance to the schools and professional development for their Title I staff. Title I funds can also be used for additional instructional staff, extended-time programs, and other means of raising student achievement in high-poverty schools.
