Mrs. Kimberly Noreikis
My name is Kimberly Noreikis, and I teach English Language Learners and Literacy Lessons to 2nd and 3rd grade students here at Coventry Oak. It's hard to believe, but this is my 23rd year as a teacher! I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in Elementary Education, then moved to Texas where I taught in a bilingual kindergarten class for six years. After that, I returned to Kentucky and taught kindergarten at Maxwell Escuela de Inmersión en Español for four years. I also taught a 2/3 classroom and a K/1 classroom at Harrison Elementary. While working at Harrison, I earned my Masters Degree in Special Education (LBD) from Georgetown College. I left public school teaching for a few years to work as the Lead Instructor at Central Kentucky Riding for Hope, then returned to FCPS in 2008 as an ESL teacher at Booker T. Washington Primary. While working at Booker T. Washington, I earned my National Board Certification (English as a New Language), and I was trained as a Reading Recovery/Literacy Lessons teacher. In 2016, I was hired as an ESL teacher at Coventry Oak, and it was such an honor to be one of the staff members who opened the school! I love our students and our staff, and I try to get to know each and every student who attends.
When I'm not at school, I try to spend as much time as possible with my husband and our two dogs, two cats, and four horses! I enjoy riding, reading, knitting, cooking, and traveling the world. I love learning languages -- ¡Yo hablo español! -- und ein bischen Deutsch! I was fortunate enough to win a scholarship to study abroad while at UK, so I used the scholarship money to complete my student teaching in El Colegio Americano de Quito in Quito, Ecuador. I have also travelled to Canada, Mexico, Ghana, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway, Great Britain (England and Wales), and Ireland.
