Degrees and Certifications:
Leigh Ann DeVore was born in Jacksonville Florida to Claudia and Wayne Spencer. She has an older brother, Bill and a younger brother, Wayne Jr. Leigh Ann grew up all over Florida, living in Miami, Jacksonville, and finally, in Callahan. Her family owned and operated a dairy farm, where she learned to take care of cattle and horses, often helping with birthing calves and cleaning the dairy equipment.
Leigh Ann went to college at Palm Beach Atlantic College and first taught in Fernandina Beach, Florida for 8 years. She then moved with her husband, Rich and first child, Dale, to Concord, North Carolina where she taught for another 7 years. In 2007, Leigh Ann, now with a second child, Grey, and her family moved to Nicholasville, Kentucky. She earned her Master Degree while teaching at Millcreek Elementary and is now on her 11th year with us. In total, Leigh Ann has been teaching Special Education for 26 years.
“For me, teaching is an ever-changing career. I enjoy meeting the individual needs of our many students and finding strategies for them to master their skills. I feel fulfilled when I see them succeed in school and life.”
In her time away from school, Leigh Ann enjoys attending Grey’s soccer games, taking pictures of the players and sharing them with the other parents. She also enjoys yoga and cooking for her family.
