“I am an agriculture educator by choice and not by chance.” This is the beginning of the Agriculture Teacher’s Creed. Teaching agriculture is one of my biggest passions, I love to teach and work with tomorrow’s leaders. I am convinced that it is my calling. Here at Locust Trace I am teaching Plant and Soil Science, Principles of Agriculture, Agribiology, and Communication/Leadership Development. I am thankful that I get to have the best career in the world.
I grew up about an hour south of Lexington in a place called Ottawa which is in Rockcastle County. My grandmother made a huge impact on my life. I was an FFA member all four years of high school and it was during that point that I decided I wanted to teach agriculture thanks to my FFA Advisors. As I moved on to college I met my wife Elizabeth at National FFA Convention judging the Floriculture Contest for the University of Kentucky. We now reside in Georgetown, KY and have a daughter that is currently 1 year old named Carlee. I enjoy working on the farm with my family and hope to teach my daughter about agriculture and the value of hard work.
