• NTI Weather Days

FCPS NTI Weather Plan district information

During the 2022-23 school year, Fayette County Public Schools may use NTI (non-traditional instruction) in place of traditional closings or delays because of severe weather. We hope this allows students to continue learning online when the weather makes it unsafe to attend school in person. This option also lets us avoid extending the school year to make up for weather-related cancellations.

If an NTI Weather Day is anticipated, Chromebooks and chargers will be sent home the day before.

Instructional procedures for NTI Weather Day:

    ● Students should log into their teacher’s Google Classroom to access assignments

    ● Asynchronous Instruction (i.e. not live instruction - students complete assignments at their own pace)

               ○ No new material is presented (independent practice)

    ● A Zoom link will be posted in Google Classroom for students to access their teacher for help/support during Office Hours. For Elementary, this timeframe is 8:30-10:30 a.m.

    ● Students will receive credit for attending when assignments are completed.

    • NTI weather day vs. snow day:

On an NTI weather day, school buildings are closed and afternoon activities are canceled, but students participate in learning at home so it counts as a school day and does not need to be made up.

A regular school closing means the buildings are closed, students have the day off, afternoon activities are canceled, and the class time might be made up or added to the academic calendar.
