About Our Program
Fayette County Public Schools will open the Carter G. Woodson Preparatory Academy in fall 2021. This program, which will first be housed in the renovated and historic Johnson Elementary building on Sixth Street, will initially welcome 150 boys in grades K-2 and then add a level every year through fifth grade. The STEM-focused curriculum (science, technology, engineering, and math) will be taught through the lens of African-American history, culture, and culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies.
The mission of Fayette County Public Schools is to create a collaborative community that ensures all students achieve at high levels and graduate prepared to excel in a global society.
