Open Records Requests

Open records requests must:

  • Be in alignment with district priorities.
  • Be feasible in terms of demands on the time and resources of FCPS students, families, and staff.
  • Not interfere with staff members’ ability and availability to complete their assigned duties when participating in outside research.
  • Not violate FERPA.

FCPS accepts all open records requests via several options:

  • Submit email to Custodian of Records
  • Fax to (859) 422-9873
  • Mail to: FCPS Custodian of Records, 450 Park Place, Lexington KY 40511, or
  • Hand deliver between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays

Please include your name, mailing address, and a description of the records requested, plus your email address and phone number or other preferred means of contact. FCPS will issue a written response within five business days of receipt, excluding weekends and holidays. For nonwritten records such as USB flash drives, discs, etc., a fee equivalent to the actual cost of production shall be charged. For paper copies, the cost is $0.10 per page.
