Fayette County Public Schools serves more than 41,000 students, and every decision we make - from the board room to the classroom - is based on doing what's best for all our students. Our dedicated employees share a common goal of providing a world-class education for each and every child, and it shows.
As the second-largest employer in Lexington, FCPS has an operating budget of $660 million. Because we are committed to equity and inclusion, the school board has determined that not less than 12 percent of the total value of a construction contract, 11 percent of goods and services, and 14 percent of professional services be contracted to minority and women business enterprises (M/WBE). These are businesses that are at least 51 percent owned, operated, and managed by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the following groups:
- African-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, or Native American
- Woman or group of women
