The Seal of Biliteracy is a national and state initiative that recognizes graduating students who can speak, listen, read, and write at a high level in two or more languages.
In 2017, the Fayette County Board of Education adopted the Seal of Biliteracy to recognize graduating seniors who can demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English and one or more languages.
Qualifying graduates receive the seal emblem on their diploma and a notation on their transcript as official acknowledgement of their language skills and proof to share with colleges, universities, and potential employers. This initiative supports the FCPS commitment to preparing students to excel in a global society.
