Audition Tasks

1. Perform a Memorized Monologue: Students will choose a 1–2 minute monologue from the grade-level provided list - go.fcps.net/GTMonologues. Prepare and memorize the monologue. Think about physical and vocal variety while developing the character. No props or costumes are allowed.

2. On-Demand Cold Reading Scene Work:

Grades 6–8: Students will work in small groups of 2–4 students on a short scene. They will have 15–20 minutes to work together to block and prepare their scene on the day of their audition.

Grades 9–12: Students will be provided a 2- or 3-person contentless, open scene that they have not read. Students will have 5 minutes to read, think, and explore the piece physically and vocally.

• Students will establish the given circumstances for the scene with their partner.  Where are they?  What is their relationship?  What is their objective (what they want)?  And how are they going to get it (their tactic)? 

Everyone will practice two (2) scenes with different people. Students will then perform the piece (using the script, not memorized).
