Audition Tasks

  1. Tech Theatre Submission Slides:

Prepared Design Concept: Students will choose a fairy tale as their inspiration text for this challenge. DO NOT use any Disney movies or Disney versions of fairy tales as your inspiration.

  • Create a visual representation of your design concept.
  • This is NOT the set or costume design, but instead a visual representation of your aesthetic for the show and how you would approach the story.
  • Products might include a vision board, drawings, 3D models, collage, slide deck, etc. submitted electronically via photos or slide deck of photos.

Portfolio: Students will submit a portfolio/resume/activities list to share your past theatre or visual art work to help us learn more about you as an artist. Acceptable formats are slide deck, website, or PDF.

  1. On-Demand Design Challenge:

The on-demand design challenge will be assessed in a group setting giving students the opportunity to demonstrate collaborative skills. Students will be asked to creatively and artistically solve a problem using provided materials (including trash bags, cardboard, and duct tape).

  1. On-Demand Interview Questions:

Technical Theatre students will answer content-specific interview questions. Interviews will be video recorded and are not scored, but are used as supporting evidence for gifted identification. Students will be asked to share individual interests and experiences as well as goals and areas of technical theatre interest.
