Audition Tasks

1. Performance: 

Each student should prepare two (2) pieces of contrasting styles (fast/slow or from different time periods). Students should choose music that reflects their interpretive and technical abilities. Memorization of the music is optional but highly encouraged and may improve overall audition score.

PDF Music/URL Source: 

• For music that has been learned using sheet music, students are asked to submit PDF scans of the sheet music for each piece for adjudicator reference.
• For music that is learned using a resource such as a YouTube video, students should submit the video URL for each of the pieces for adjudicator reference.
• For music that is learned in a way other than the above two examples, provide a brief description of how you learned the piece(s).  

2. On-Demand Sight-Reading: 

Sight-reading will also be a part of the on-demand audition. (Released S-R samples) Key signatures may include up to two sharps or flats, both major and minor. (C Major, G Maj, D Maj, F Maj, B-flat Maj, a minor, e min, b min, d min, g min). (No scales or arpeggios are required.)
