Visual and Performing Arts Auditions

2026-27 Sign-Up Window: Aug. 12 -- Sept. 25 

The District Gifted & Talented (GT) Department holds auditions for students in grades 3-12 who are interested in being identified as GT in the visual and performing arts.

Audition opportunities include: 

• Art
• Band
• Creative Writing (literary arts at SCAPA)
• Dance
• Drama
• Guitar
• Instrumental Music
• Piano
• Strings
• Technical Theatre (high school)
• Vocal Music

Auditions will be recorded at your child's school. The GT resource teacher will provide specific dates and details. 

• Elementary students (grades 3-5) in October 
• Secondary students (grades 6-12) in November 

Audition results will be shared with families in December, before winter break. Your child might qualify for formal GT identification and services at their school of enrollment. GT services are available at all FCPS schools.

Placement at District School/Program

To be considered for possible enrollment in SCAPA at Bluegrass (grades 4-8) or SCAPA in Lafayette High (grades 9-12), students must audition during the districtwide window in the fall. Parents/guardians must also complete a separate SchoolMint application during the FCPS application window for magnet and specialized school programs (MASP), which this year run Nov. 2 through Jan. 29.
