During their June 9, 2025, planning session, school board members agreed to establish a Budget Solutions Work Group to collectively, transparently, and thoroughly examine the district's short-term budget plans for 2025-26 and long-range fiscal outlook. The board asked that the members of the work group bring different voices to the table to ensure that we hear from people who represent different generations, neighborhoods, backgrounds, professions, and economic realities who experience our community and our schools through vastly different lenses.
The work group met three times at The Hub for Innovative Learning & Leadership (The HILL) on Midland Avenue, and each session was open to the public. Afterward, summaries were emailed to FCPS staff and families, posted in our homepage News feed, and archived below along with the videos and resource materials.
On July 29, the group finalized their work by identifying and ranking their top 10 possible solutions to bring to the school board in August for consideration.
Another community group will be assembled to continue the work and develop long-term budget recommendations. Details on that effort and ways to be involved are under development.
